ProEquality Centre

The Mission of the ProEquality Centre

ProEquality’s conviction is that inequality is a violation of human rights and that a modern democratic society should provide equal opportunity for all regardless of social status, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, age or physical impairment. We are aware that the barriers of exclusion have been generally lowered in the last century and that the exclusion of women from the public space, labour-markets, and career-ladders has, to a certain degree, declined. However, it is important to note that the existing inequality does not only take the form of obvious discrimination but also operates effectively through more subtle status hierarchies. Our conviction is that one must analyze these mechanisms of inequalities, formulate action plans for amendment, and advocate for change towards the relevant stakeholders. Living in the part of the world which is least unequal should also make us work, both on the national and individual level, for gender equality and empowerment of women in the developing world as well.

The ambition of the ProEquality Centre is to develop an independent space where ideas and activism can meet in order to challenge the existing inequalities.

The main mission of the ProEquality Centre is to utilize  research and action to empower women on the economic, social, and political level. This means that ProEquality takes part in different research projects and conducts its own analysis and reports on the topics that influence the advancement of women. It is our conviction that these outcomes must then transform into advocacy activities towards the policy and decision makers and into the educational activities for public and private organizations.

In the section ProEquality Themes you can find out more about what we do and what are ProEquality’s main areas of interest.

Since most of our work is directed towards the Czech audience, our reports & publications are mainly in the Czech language. Our ambition is to publish the abstracts in English and to keep you informed about our major projects on this site. Due to the limited resources, however, we may lag behind with all the news & alerts here. If you have a question about our work, don’t hesitate to contact us at kancelar (at) proequality.cz or contact anyone from the ProEquality team members.
